Laying the blinding May09 (Nic Bennett) Our next dig is on the Wendover Arm of the GU over the weekend of the 1st - 3rd May. To quote Roger Leisham from his newsletter here are the proposed works: 'KESCRG are also visiting us on Saturday to Monday of the May working party and will be working at Bridge 4. They will pour the next base of the mooring bay, erect the steel formwork for the first wall section and strip and re-assemble the base formwork for another pour. They will also work on the initial clearance of the Whitehouses old pumping station site to try and expose better details of what lies below ground level'. Accommodation is back at our old favourite the New Mill Scout Hut, Grove Road, Tring, HP23 5HA. Directions as follows: From the West (i.e. London side) of Tring leave the A41 at the junction for the A4251 and the B4633, and take the B4633 London Road for Tring. Once in the town turn right at the lights onto the B488 Brook Street for Tring Wharf. About 1/2 mile on the right there is a pub (from memory called the New Inn) on the corner of the B488 and Grove Road. Turn right into Grove Road and you will find the New Mill Scout Hut halfway up the hill (just past a service garage) on the right hand side. From the NW side of Tring come off the A41 for the A4635 and B488. Take the first exit off the roundabout onto the B488 Icknefield Way. Follow this for a couple miles as it skirts the edge of Tring until you get to the roundabout junction with Bulbourne Rd. Turn right and you will find Grove Road is the next road off to the left. The New Mill Scout Hut halfway up the hill (just past a service garage) on the right hand side. Although I am not running this weekend I will look after bookings and pass them onto Bobby and Ian so please email eddie@kescrg.org if you are joining us. Cheers Eddie |
