Digger digging the trench.

One of the jobs of this extremely cold weekend was to dig a trench
alongside the towpath to be filled with water pipe and other utilities
to be used at a boat rally later in the Spring.

The other job of the weekend was to clear tree stumps and bankside
vegetation to allow boats to moor for the rally.

 

The frozen canal

After several days of freezing weather, the ice on the canal was a
couple of inches deep.

 

The new dredger

There was also the opportunity for folks to admire the locals' newly
acquired ex-Environment Agency dredger.
