Eisey Lock - Thames & Severn Canal

Following on from our Summer Camp in July, we were working on
one of the chamber walls of the lock, tying new brickwork into
the remaining bit of the original wall behind.

Our latest recruit keeps up the supplies of lime mortar, a
traditional material that would have been used in the
original construction of the lock by 18th Century navvies.

Hard working volunteers enjoy a well deserved light refreshment
on Saturday evening. KESCRG weekends are as much about
meeting with friends new and old as they are about restoring canals.

Hats off to the glorious sunshine!

Another four courses were laid during the course of the weekend,
bringing the completion of this side of the lock ever closer. We will
be returning to Eisey Lock in October, the last chance for bricklaying
before Winter prohibits the use of lime mortar until next Spring.
